I could have nammed this post “Cheapest SD card socket contest”. This is the simplest, smallest and cheapest socket that I have found for attaching a SD card to an (Adafruit type of) Arduino proto shield. In addition to the shield, you only need a 7 pins male header, a 7 pins femelle header, 6 resistors (see previous posts) and a piece of wire. The only particular point is the bending of the header pins: ply them until you get a firm contact with the SD card tabs. That’s all, if you can solder properly.
